Every human being, whoever they are and whatever their beliefs, longs for peace. Likewise, peace is one of the core concepts of the Christian message. Orientation to peace triggers the encounter between the Church and the World, human quest as well as divine gift and purpose. The Institute operates at the point of intersection of precisely these issues. Its focus is on intellectually penetrating the many and varied dimensions of Christ’s message of peace and incorporating it into the dialogue of a pluralist society. The objective, on the one hand, is to develop a peace ethic that is based on reason and one which commits politics to the service of a quality of peace that is truly deserving of this goal, and, on the other, to guide today’s dialogue of peace to those depths of our being where Man is confronted with the ultimate questions of his very existence: sermo de pace, sermo de Deo!
